Dr. David N. Cooper has dedicated his efforts to help students develop the skills, capabilities, and learning strategies they need to succeed in today's workplaces and careers. Recently, he has developed a series of courses focusing on the challenges of climate change, sustainable business and community development, and the planning and design skills needed to provide thought leadership in proposing sustainability systems. Based on the need for climate action, these courses help students acquire technical and business development knowledge and skills through project-based and hands-on minds-on approaches to learning. Areas of focus include storm preparedness and salvage, environmental remediation, reuse and recycling, energy efficiency and clean energy systems, alternative fuels transportation, urban organic farming, and functional health practices. In earlier administrative roles he has partnered the intellectual resources of the college with regional economic and community development needs through service learning, internships, distance learning, and career ladder programs. He has developed entry level and incumbent worker education and training, college preparatory programs, as well as occupational and professional updates, conferences, residential institutes, and programs to enhance the quality of life through cultural enrichment. Dr. Cooper has extensive experience with grant-funded programs, program evaluation, and partnerships with business, government, education, professional associations, non-governmental organizations, and regional economic development bodies.
