Dr. Straker is a Columbia trained psychiatrist who has been in private practice since 2004. He is also the M3 Psychiatry Clerkship Director at NSU MD (NOVA Southeastern) in Fort Lauderdale, FL. He has been selected in the New York Times Super Doctors Top New York Physicians five years in a row from 2018-2023. He does both psychotherapy and psychopharmacology. He was the Fellowship Director in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at Long Island Jewish Medical Center for 5 years from 2009-2013. He is on staff at NY Presbyterian Hospital (Columbia), Lenox Hill Hospital, and Long Island Jewish Hospital. He was a Chief Resident for two years at The Zucker Hillside Hospital of the Long Island Jewish Medical Center prior to completing a Fellowship in Psychosomatic Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center. He is Board Certified in Psychiatry and Psychosomatic Medicine. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (DFAPA) and a Fellow of the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry (FACLP). He has spoken and presented at many conferences including the Annual Meetings of the American Psychiatric Association and The Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine. He completed three years of Psychoanalytic Training at NYU Psychoanalytic Institute. He enjoys teaching residents, fellows, and medical students.
