The association between Arabian Sea SST and the South Asian monsoon has been widely studied in observations and models, with winter cold biases known to be detrimental to rainfall simulation during the subsequent monsoon in coupled general circulation models (GCMs). The Bay of Bengal is known for its cyclones. 2) Seasonal and inter-annual variability in the overall CO2 air-sea exchange balance in the Bayof Bengal. 3) The role of remote forcing in the Spatio-temporal variability of the water column in terms ofnutrients and productivity.For achieveing the above objectives there where 9 sub-projects were approved and funded by DOD by the administrative approval on 19 October 2000 for a total budget of Rs. 146.93 lakhs. The project involved National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), Goa, Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), Ahmedabad, Centre for Mathematical Modelling and Computer Simulation(C-MMACS), Bangalore and Goa University (GU), Goa. There was total of 4 cruises conducted during 2001 and 2006. Out of this, I was involved in one cruise collecting critical metocean data onboard ORV Sagar Kanya along Equatorial Indian ocean. To understand the remote forcing of the equatorial Indian ocean on BoB process. All the cruises sampling were carried out at the same location so as to decipher the seasonal cycle. In each of the cruise, 24 CTD stations were done as part of Metocean measurements.Team over all 35 parameters were measured.Several new insights are emerged out from the BOBPS data analysis. Show less
