You could say Chiropractic Medicine runs in the blood of Warwick NY Chiropractor Dr. Drew Ackerman.Dr. Drew Ackerman’s father was one of the first chiropractors in Warwick, NY. Naturally, he was treated or adjusted as a teenager playing high school sports in the Warwick Valley.Soon, young Drew became convinced Chiropractic Medicine was the natural way of doing handling the physical strains of everyday life. After all, his father was a chiropractor.After graduating from Warwick Valley High School, Drew left the farmlands of Warwick to enter the United States Coast Guard. Without regular chiropractic adjustments from his father, Drew noticed a difference in in his health and how he felt without weekly chiropractic care. One day, while serving active duty in the Coast Guard in West Palm Beach, Florida, he decided to do something about it. He asked his commanding officer who Coast Guard post used for a chiropractor. Drew’s Commanding Officer laughed and asked, “Do you think this post is a country club?” Drew decided to call home and ask his father for referral in the Palm Beach area. Drew’s father connected him with a chiropractor. It was at this point when Drew had to pay for his first adjustment, when he learned the actual value there was in being a chiropractor. Upon completing his enlistment in the US Coast Guard, Drew began attending Palmer College of Chiropractic Medicine (the Fountainhead and original Chiropractic College in the world). He graduated in June 1985. While studying and sitting boards in California, he auditioned and was cast in several television commercials. Soon, Drew, the now Dr. Drew Ackerman, started his own practice in Cybil Shepard’s then-husband Bruce Oppenheim’s office in Hollywood, California.Soon, Drew was called by various studios and locations to be the on-set chiropractor for the cast and crew on shows like the West Wing and ER to name a few and moved his practice to Beverly Hills.In 2004, Drew came home to Warwick to help care for his ailing parents. He took over his father’s chiropractic business and has been here ever since.
