Dr. Elliot Fishman Work Experience Details
  • Institute For Sensible Transport
    Director
Institute For Sensible Transport Sep 2005 - Present
After establishing the Institute in mid-2005, we have become one of Australia's leading consultancies to government on sustainable mobility. Our focus areas include disruptive transport innovation, transport technology, place making, street re-design, shared mobility, electric mobility and bicycle planning. Undertaking a diverse range of projects, my role at the Institute includes:• The impact of disruptive transport innovation (e.g. Uber, autonomous vehicles) on transport behaviour and required responses from local and state government.• Electric vehicle policy and charging infrastructure planning for government.• Fleet transition plans and net-zero emission transport policy.• Technical lead on a diverse range of transport projects commissioned by state and local government, including cost benefit analyses of walking and cycling, integration of cycling and public transport, and disruptive transport technology policy (e.g. autonomous vehicles, ride sharing).• Geospatial analyses of fuel price vulnerability in regional and urban areas of Australia.• Briefing Ministers (including the Prime Minister) on sustainable transport issues. • Organising and facilitating large scale professional development seminars with leading transport academics and practitioners, such as Professors’ Donald Shoup, Graham Currie and Allan Fels AO, as well as Todd Litman and Tom Vanderbilt. This role has demonstrated my ability to professionally manage sectors with divergent interests (e.g. taxi industry and Uber).• Bike share feasibility studies for City governments, including Sydney, Adelaide and Perth.
