I work as part of a learning disability team and provide services to people in the community and also to the inpatient unit. I work with adults with learning disabilities and their carers. I am particularly interested in systemic work with families and supporting parents with a learning disability.

Nhs Forth Valley

I completed my training in NHS Forth Valley/University of Edinburgh. This was the five year specialist training model, and I specialised in learning disabilities. This means that alongside the traditional training comprising of placements in adult mental health, learning disabilities, child and adolescent mental health and older adult services, I worked part-time in a learning disability service. I also completed specialist placements in a service for children with learning disabilities, a community mental health team and helped develop a service for people with learning disabilities and suspected dementia.

I worked on a research project in the university of Glasgow, collaborating with Cambridge University. This project looked at using text messaging as an aid for people with acquired brain injury and prospective memory difficulties.
