Dr. Rooker believes Salutogenic Veterinary Medicine is the best way to craft positive mental health and professional development within the veterinary profession. Salutogenesis is defined as, "A scholarly orientation focusing attention on the study of the origins of health and assets for health, contra the origins of disease and risk factors."To this end Dr. Rooker continues to study the latest research about preventative interventions that aid in the motivation and development of professionals across all fields. In January 2019 Dr. Rooker founded Operators to Owners LLC, which is a business dedicated to peer-based veterinary education. His consulting business has a focus in positive psychology and utilizes peer validated research in this area to impact mental wellbeing and personal development for practitioners in the mixed animal, dairy, and beef specialties.To this end Dr. Rooker uses Operators to Owners as a vehicle to facilitate the spread of the skills, tools, tactics, and habits that lead veterinarians to successful careers, businesses, and lives. Using small peer-mentorship groups called masterminds, large convention type speaking events, a monthly podcast, and 1-on-1 coaching he and his team seek to help practitioners craft a self-determined career that is shaped not by the circumstances around them, but instead by their own unique interests and desires.
