About Dr. Ffion Thompson

I am a passionate and determined former performance athlete with expanding knowledge relating to the physiological and metabolic determents of sport match performance and programs. Dedicated to delivering high levels of strength and conditioning/sport science support through communication, critical thinking and problem-solving. I am proficient in field, gym and lab-based testing/monitoring, programming and coaching of athletic populations as well as working alongside technical coaches, medical staff, and other support staff that make up a performance team. My philosophy is to support athletes to help them achieve their ambitions and maximise their athletic potential. I believe strongly that relationships and a holistic perspective are at the heart of impactful coaching. In addition to my practical qualities, I am currently a postdoctoral researcher at Leeds Beckett University, where I aspire to conduct high-quality research in the field of youth athletic development that makes a practical difference in the field.
