After over 20 years working in Malaysia, I have returned to the UK. In recent years I have specialised in pyrolysis to treat any organic waste to produce fuel oil, biochar and/or syngas to produce electricity.Recently we have been working on producing biochar from bamboo and rice husks. Installed plants converting plastics into diesel say "the system is a licence to make money" Also our waste tyre systems will accept tyres up to 4m diameter and require no shredding. Shredding is expensive, requires lots of maintenance and requires electricity to drive the shredder I have been involved in water, sewage and waste treatment internationally for nearly 40 years. I am now involved in the design, installation and commissioning of our equipment which uses my many years of experience around the world to have plants particularly suitable for developing countries. In 1976 I helped set up the Metito organisation in London and became their General Manager supporting the Saudi Arabian organisation. I moved onto Ames Crosta Babcocks and then set up my own company Invent Water Treatment in 1982. I sold out in 1994 and went to work in Argentina before eventually arriving in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia in 1996. I met my partner Ethan Tan in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia in 2010 who is the Tomher Group MD and Tomher Environmental Sdn Bhd was born shortly afterwards in 2011.Specialties: Design and installation of water and waste treatment systems. Our innovative sewage treatment system is unique and produces probably the best treated effluent in Sabah if not in SE Asia, a treated effluent of 10:15 being typical. Systems have now been running nearly two years trouble free requiring less power and the footprint is significantly smaller. Operation and maintenance are well within the capabilities of available Asian staff.I recently ran a 2-3 hour workshop on sewage treatment on a Saturday morning in June for both the Malaysian Institute of Engineers and also for the Professional Architects of Malaysia (PAM) at the Kota Kinabalu offices. The talks were exceedingly well received and has resulted in new contacts and new business.

I am certainly both "hands on" and "hands off" and love troubleshooting. My experience/expertise includes SWRO. sewage treatment, potable water treatment, swimming pool water purification, water features & fountains (I was the consultant to the Fountain Society of which Prince Charles was the president when I lived in the UK), children's water theme parks & irrigation to highlight some of what I can do. In the late 1980's I did the 3000m3/d SWRO systems to produce potable water on the Greek tourist islands of Syros & Mikonos. I also spent a year in Argentina acting as the "Resident Engineer" for the British Government helping poor villages with simple water and sewage treatment; Argentina is a beautiful & fascinating country and I was made most welcome even though the UK had had a war with Argentina not long before my visit. A visit is certainly recommended. I am now heavily involved in pyrolysis which is an exciting technology for recycling waste and is environmentally friendly. We can convert waste plastics to low sulphur (less than 6 mg/l) diesel DIRECT from the system. Treatment of clinical waste is much safer by pyrolysis rather than by incineration which producers dioxins - incineration should be banned

They specialise in water and waste treatment design, installation and commissioning. In particular the BioSolv sewage treatment system is unique and of my design and is something special. It combines the latest US and EU technologies and is producing better than a 10:15 effluent with ease. The system is easy to operate with no sludge recycling. It has a small footprint, a lower power requirement and is easy to operate and maintain. Please see our website but please appreciate we are still building it. It will get betterThe high quality effluent from our BioSolv sewage systems can be easily used for flushing toilets which is very useful on tourist islands to save water. The water can also be used irrigation and hydroponics. We have the technology to assist including aquaponics where we can recycle fish pond water and use it for hydroponics.We have just launched the BioSolv+ which is designed for sewage population from say 2000PE up to city size. It requires less space, less power and will easily achieve a 10:10 effluent or better as required. It only requires two men per shift to operate and maintain. It is a winner!Having looked at some of the swimming pool installations in Sabah, we felt we could do better. So we have now entered the swimming pool and water features market. We have already been awarded two contracts with more on the way. So you know, I started doing swimming pools in 1976 when working for Metito in Saudi ArabiaIn April 2016 I parted company with Tomher and now work as a consultant. Environmental ConsultantAquamatrix Environmental Apr 1995 - Oct 2012Sabah, MalaysiIn April 1995 I left the UK to act as a Resident Engineer for Mackie Environmental out of Belfast who were working closely with the British Governemnt to build bridges with Argentina after the Falklands war. I travelled the length and breadth of the country designing simple water and sewage plants for poor villages. In 1996 I moved to Kuching in Sarawak on the beautiful island of Borneo and worked with an organisation (Sanmina) from the USA to install and commission their water and waste water treatment plants for a new electronics factory. This include to RO plants using the latest continuous deep bed filtration technology which gave exceptionally low SDI values.When all was up and running the MD asked me to stay and I was there until 2001. I then moved to the island of Labuan and then to nearby Kota Kinabalu in Sabah where I was involved in aquaculture, designing water recirculation systems to minmise water usage and more important, minimise potential disease. This work still continues but now under the umbrella of Tomher Environmental Sdn Bhd
