Dr. Geoffrey A. Thompson Email and Phone Number

Dr. Geoffrey A. Thompson is a Professor of Prosthodontics, and Liaison to the Graduate Programs at the Dental College of Georgia. He received a B.A. degree in Chemistry from the University of South Florida and attended Emory University School of Dentistry in Atlanta, Georgia. In addition, he has earned a certificate in prosthodontics from Walter Reed Army Medical Center and a M.S. degree in Dental Materials from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.Dr. Thompson joined the faculty at the Marquette University School of Dentistry in 2010, coming from the U.S. Army Dental and Trauma Research Detachment, Great Lakes, Illinois where he served as Chief, Dental Biomaterials Branch and then Commander. His research focused on the challenge of preventing ballistic injuries to the eyes, face and neck regions of combat Soldiers. Formerly, Dr. Thompson was the Program Director for Graduate Prosthetic Dentistry at Marquette. In 2022, he joined the faculty at the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University where he educates and trains both undergraduate and graduate dental students.Dr. Thompson is a Director, American Board of Prosthodontics, Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics, Fellow in the American College of Prosthodontists and the Academy of Prosthodontics, and a member of the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics. Dr. Thompson is active with research, with over 60 peer-reviewed publications in print. He has a special interest in creating smiles, prosthodontist-driven implant placement, mechanical testing of materials and educating and training residents for board certification.When he is not working, he enjoys the outdoors, gardening and spending time with his family.
