I have maintained my contact with Griffith University since arriving in Queensland in May 2006. This has included various roles including Adjunct and permanent positions, guest lectures and covering for the Course Convenor whilst on sabbatical. Subject areas include but are not limited to environmental management systems, hazardous waste management, organic waste management and nutrient cycling, cleaner production, green transport solutions, sustainable development, energy productivity and renewable energy.

Workforce Planning Manager/Renewable Energy Workforce Planner. *Responsible for the workforce management team which is responsible for conducting critical analysis regarding projected future skills demand and supply to identify projected skills gaps from an industry wide and enterprise level. *Development of workforce planning consultancy including, establishing a workforce planning methodology to deliver workforce planning consultancy services. *Enterprise level Workforce Planning Projects for Queensland Government Owned Corporations, including energy generation sites and distribution networks. *Liaison with the Higher and Vocational Education and Training sectors to address current and future requirements, and to ensure clear occupational/skills pathways.

Management of interdisciplinary professional officers. Duties included advice and guidance of proposed regulatory amendments; policy and legislative advice (including statutory interpretation and decision making) to regional operations staff. Monitor, evaluation and reporting on progress of projects to key stakeholders and development and maintaining collaborative relationships with stakeholders to underpin the success of projects for example, port dredging and maintenance of main roads. Providing timely responses to Ministerial, Director General (DG) and Parliamentary Questions. Drafting of DG Briefing Notes on a range of subjects. Representing the Department on a range of consultative boards and partnerships. Managing and leading projects and teams, including the supporting budget, to ensure successful and timely delivery of outcomes in support of Departmental strategic directions. Organisation and management of a variety of consultancy contracts for technical services and management of a technical budget $220,000. Development and management of DERM officer training state-wide with an annual budget of >$300,000. Management of various reporting functions including the report on the administration of the Environmental Protection Act. Delivery of new legislation training (Environmental Protection Regulation 2008; EPOLA 2; Noise, Air and Water Environmental Protection Policies) to Local Government and EPA staff throughout Queensland.Management of professional officers split between two offices and reporting directly to the Regional Manager, Brisbane South. Responsibilities included the provision of leadership in the management of environmental planning and protection, licensing, compliance monitoring, audits, licence review, investigations, enforcement actions and incident response services. Ensuring compliance with the obligations of relevant legislation and other statutory requirements for workplace health and safety, budget and audit outcomes

Responsible for managing a budget of over GB£3.6 million for the provision of waste and recycling services (contractor Cleanaway), management of contractors, management and supervision (including appointment) of multidisciplinary staff members, the waste and recycling contracts and contractors. Reporting against mandatory Government key performance indicators (including recycling rates) and local performance indicators. Reporting of quarterly recycling figures and submission of claims for recycling credits from the waste disposal authority. Management of Local Agenda 21 and community health projects for the District. Securing funding opportunities. Writing new council policies and reports for Elected Member approval. Leading community consultation for service provision

Various waste and resource related projects, including tender submissions. Review and management of the Environment Agency (UK) monitoring duties for composting facilities. Design of landfill and waste transfer facilities. Providing guidance on termination requests for NFFO and SRO landfill gas projects for the UK industry regulator (OFGEM). Monitoring and review of existing composting facilities on behalf of the UK Regulator (Environment Agency).

Consultancy on Environmental and Resource Systems and Strategies for a wide range of clients. Including project management for degradable and biodegradable polymer clients; risk assessments for organic waste collections and for waste auditing contracts for Local Governments; organic farming and the use of organic substrates to raise productivity.
