Growing up, I always searched for a role model I could relate to—someone who shared my cultural background and experiences. Now, I strive to be that person for others. For several decades, I have dedicated myself to helping students from historically underrepresented groups find their place in science and engineering. As a first-generation Mexican-American, I had to forge my own path to success – by being the first in my family to attend college, complete a STEM graduate degree, earn a doctorate from Stanford, and work in corporate America. My passion for problem-solving led me to STEM, but my commitment to inclusive innovation drives me today. I feel a great sense of responsibility to enable individuals from all backgrounds, experiences, and educational fields to transform the world with their inventions. Through research, practice, and policy, I aim to raise awareness about the importance of strong intellectual property rights. These rights are essential because they encourage innovation, protect creators' investments, and ensure inventors can benefit from their work. Furthermore, patent protection fosters economic growth and drives technological advancement in our society. Join me in paying it forward by sharing resources and making connections. Whether you're looking for guidance, interested in inclusive innovation, or simply want to share ideas — let’s connect!
