As Founder & Director of Mindspace Psychology, I currently oversee the operations of Mindspace Psychology across three clinic locations: Berwick, Cranbourne East & Endeavour Hills. The position entails a clinical caseload, seeing clients a variety of different clients presenting with a wide range of psychological problems. The position also encompasses the day-to-day running of the practice, including finances and forecasts, operations, team management and marketing. As a School & Family Psychologist I worked with both primary and secondary aged children (5-19years). The position provided a varied caseload for referrals such as divorce, depression, anxiety, bullying, self-esteem, grief, behavioural problems, eating disorders, social skills and family issues. Referrals were received from parents, teachers, student welfare group or self-referrals and a wide variety of therapies were adopted including play & art therapies, CBT, experiential, emotion-focussed and solution-focussed therapies. The position entailed supporting the Manager of the Schools Unit in assisting with HR related duties including: preparation of school & staff contracts, liaising with schools and staff of the unit and providing orientation for newly recruited School Psychologist.

This role comprised of marking tutorial tasks, grading assignments and exams and supporting students through exam preparation as they completed their unit at the end of each semeseter.

This is where my passion for working in private practice began, allowing me to provide psychological counselling to a variety of different clients and presentations. During this role I was able to learn about the many aspects of running a business, from working with the client, to the administrative tasks such as reporting requirements, referral guidelines, finance and accounting needs, and marketing activities.
