Afri Grow is striving to become a world leader in the integrative medicine and nutraceutical sectors, effectively ‘marrying’ indigenous remedies with modern Western-style medicines by working with our strategic partners including medical doctors and Big-Pharma across the globe. Our inaugural investments and focus are on developing a fully-integrated medicinal cannabis facility in Lesotho. Why Lesotho? Because it provides us with a unique cost advantage (at least 40% cheaper production costs than any other key international producer) while manufacturing the highest quality, pharma-grade products. We will leverage the combined experience of several decades of our extended team working with medical doctors, university researchers, specialized cannabis consultants, existing producers and pharmaceutical companies in South Africa, Canada, the USA, Europe and Australia. Our longer-term growth strategy involves replicating the Afri Grow (South Africa) structure in Australia, and possibly Europe and/or Canada. Our key focus is on “Green Health” and nutraceuticals and working with the indigenous populations of each region (in each country) to harness their existing herbal medicinal recipes and work with modern pharmaceutical companies to analyse, isolate and extract the core activated pharmaceutical ingredients (API’s) – thereby truly embracing ESG initiatives. For more information, check out our website at: www.afrigrow.co.za or contact me at: grant@afrigrow.co.za Show less

This position formed part of a “think tank” that was tasked with developing faster and more cost efficient ways of estimating and evaluating diamond projects, from a global perspective, to take them from exploration targets to operating mines. The team developed prototype evaluation models that set the best-practice standard for the company, which formed part of group-wide policies. My R&D project’s main objective was to evaluate the financial impact of complex, interrelated technical risks at any stage of project valuation. The scope of this research included developing software that could integrate new algorithms and cater for the visualization of complex data systems. The project required detailed analysis of correlated risks versus opportunities between each segment of the evaluation pipeline from sampling, geology, mining, metallurgical processing and finance. Risk mitigation strategies were developed and evaluated using real option valuation techniques. It was my responsibility to effectively establish and manage an expert technical panel to assist me, comprising some of the leading scientific academics, practitioners and consultants in the world. This list included specialists from academia and industry in the UK, France, Belgium, USA, Canada and Australia in the areas of risk management, geostatistics, finance and real option valuation. During this time he established research programmes at Leeds University (UK), CERNA, School of Mines (France) and McGill University in Montreal, Canada on behalf of the De Beers Group. He lectured at special seminars at these universities and presented at international conferences on the topics of resource risk management and project evaluation. Show less -
