Dr. Harikrishnan S is currently Sr Professor and Head of Department of cardiology at the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), Trivandrum, Kerala. Graduated from Medical College, Trivandrum, I had post-doctoral DM training in cardiology from SCTIMST. Subsequently I got Commonwealth Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology and had training in Leeds University, UK IN 2005-2006. I also got trained in Public Health leadership in PH-LEADER program of the Rollins School of public Health, Emory University, USA in 2014.My main research interest is in heart failure(HF). I am the PI of the first HF cohort in the country – the Trivandrum HF cohort which has completed 10 years of follow-up. I am coordinating the National HF registry and National Center of Excellence in Clinical Research (CARE) in HF in SCTIMST by ICMR with funding of 5 Crores. My other research grants include those from Wellcome Trusts and NHLBI. I have more than 200 publications in International peer reviewed Journals with high impact. I have edited three books, one a unique monograph on Balloon Mitral Valvotomy and another one titled – A RACE AGAINST TIME – describing the epidemic of cardiovascular diseases in developing economies. I am also the founder-editor of the International peer-reviewed journal - Pulmonary Circulation. I am currently the Editor of Heart Failure Journal of India.
