I am a nationally recognized educational leader with 35 years of executive and faculty experience in workforce, apprenticeship and economic development. I received my Doctorate from Seattle University; Masters from the University of Washington; and attained a Bachelor’s degree from California State University. .My broad professional experience spans early, elementary, community college and university education. I am currently, the Executive Dean of the Georgetown Campus of South Seattle Community College which houses the largest Apprenticeship training center in the Northwest. Also, I am a principal in Education and Workforce Solutions LLC, a consulting firm focusing on the connectivity between the economy, the workforce, registered apprenticeship and all aspects of education. My work has involved bipartisan federal and state legislation regarding Life Long Learning Accounts (LILAs) for incumbent and low-wage workers. I am a strong advocate for apprenticeship education in the community college system and linking this training to post-secondary degrees and certificates. My publications and presentations on variety of workforce education and apprenticeship topics gives me a national vision of the field and an interest in facilitating best practices. In addition to advocating for apprenticeship I promote programs for veterans, justice experienced and disengaged youth reengagement through higher education. My passion is authenticating learning that takes place outside the traditional classroom into post-secondary degrees and certificates that build careers for a lifetime.
