Dr. Imran Sabir, an accomplished sociologist, currently serves as an Associate Professor of Sociology at Quaid-i-Azam University in Islamabad, Pakistan. He embarked on his academic journey by earning a Master's degree in Sociology from the University of the Punjab in Lahore, Pakistan. Further expanding his horizons, Dr. Sabir moved to France and acquired a French Language Certificate from CAVILAM in Vichy. His insatiable thirst for knowledge culminated in a PhD in Sociology from the prestigious University of Paris-Saclay in France.Before taking up his position at Quaid-i-Azam University, Dr. Sabir gained valuable experience as a freelance research consultant for WWF-Pakistan in Lahore and as a sociologist for National Engineering Services of Pakistan (NESPAK). His professional background has helped shape his research interests, which span an array of compelling topics, including the institutionalization of Sociology in Pakistan, Pakistani entertainment media, children's perceptions of safety and agency, environmental Sociology, youth experiences of violence, road safety, and on-campus drug consumption.Dr. Sabir's extensive work has been widely published in reputable journals such as the Asian Journal of Academic Research, Asian Journal of International Peace and Security, SHAJAR, Child Indicators Research, Competitive Education Research Journal, Deviant Behavior, Global Regional Review, and Global Social Sciences Review.His dedication to the field of sociology and passion for research has led to several successful research projects. Between 2022 and 2024, Dr. Sabir will spearhead a project funded by the World Bank and HEC, Islamabad, focusing on the "Optimum Use of Existing Resources: A Prototype Model on Road Safety." This high-impact initiative boasts a staggering budget of Rs 218 million. Additionally, Dr. Sabir has served as Co-PI on the "Community-based Solid Waste Management through Active and Effective Participation" project, a World Bank and HEC, Islamabad-funded venture worth Rs 34 million.Dr. Sabir's notable achievements also include leading projects as Principal Investigator, such as "Development of Sociology as Discipline in Different Pakistani Universities," "On Campus Drug Abuse in metropolitan cities of Pakistan," and the internationally recognized "Railway Industry in Pakistan and France: A comparative and multidimensional approach." The latter project, a collaboration between HEC, Islamabad, and the Franco-Pakistani Hubert Curien Partnership, received funding of Rs 0.9 million and €1.15 million euros.
