My niche has been working with at-risk youth, doing so at the community level as well as the residential level.I spent my last few years working with adjudicated youth within a correctional setting, which allowed me to become adept at understanding how crimes are punished and trying to use that knowledge to prevent youth who are already involved with Juvenile Court to not continue on to the path of Superior Court. However, I found that I can be more effective working in primary prevention versus tertiary prevention. Over the last year, I have been able to facilitate Reel Talk groups in partnership with Nash County Public Schools in North Carolina as well as the Rock Hill School District in South Carolina.I'm excited about the opportunity to continue to work within schools as well as other community based settings to try to prevent youth from having any involvement with the Juvenile Justice System.
