My professional law enforcement career began in the 1980s, where I rose through the ranks, retiring as a Police Commander with the Prince William County Police Department. Several years before retiring, I began teaching as an Adjunct Professor for George Mason University, at the Fairfax, Virginia Campus. I teach in the Department of Criminology, Law, and Society at Enterprise Hall. In this capacity, I provide higher education instruction for students pursuing undergraduate and master’s degrees in criminal justice. In addition, I teach an array of 400 and 500-level courses such as: Policing in America, Criminal Justice Management, Policing in a Democratic Society, and Leadership in Justice Organizations. Furthermore, I facilitate internships for my students at federal, state, and local criminal justice agencies. This is a rewarding profession, and my goal is to help my students achieve their educational goals and career objectives.

I am the Commander of the Police Department's Personnel Bureau. In that capacity, I have direct oversight of recruiting, and the Co-Responder Unit. My bureau is responsible for recruiting, processing, and recommending police and professional applicants for employment with the Police Department. In June of 2016, I was selected to serve as the Inaugural Commander of the Central District Station. The Central District Station, our third patrol district, is currently under construction. When completed, the two-story facility will house Patrol officers, the Chief of Police, Deputy Chief of Police, Majors, Financial and Technical Services, Criminal Investigations, Office of Professional Standards and a host of specialty units and support staff. I am currently overseeing facility construction, design, rollout of new offices within the facility, landscaping, and hiring support staff who will occupy the new station. The new facility is comprised of approximately 2.9 acres and is budgeted at $28.6-Million. Currently, I have approximately 112 staff under my command.

My responsibilities for this position include the daily operations of the Administrative Services Bureau. Administrative Services is a Bureau located within the Support Services Division of the Police Department. Tasks include Budget Development and Management; Oversight and Management of workforce service-delivery, Leadership and development of sworn and civilian employees working within the Administrative Services Bureau. The Bureau, which supports every division of the Police Department, consists of the following specialized entities: Police Records, the Warrant Control Unit, the Telephone & Online Reporting Unit, the Forensic Services Section, the Criminal Evidence Section, Police Fleet, the Logistics & Support Section to include the Police Warehouse and other supplies, the Licensing Section which includes Parking Tickets and the False Alarm Reduction Unit, the Department's Taxicab Inspector and the Police Department’s Towing Coordinator.
