I, Jaynendra Kumar, have recently completed my Ph.D. from the Electrical Engineering Department, MNNIT Allahabad, Prayagraj. I did my Ph.D. work on DC microgrid control and management. During my Ph.D., I have filed a patent (Title: Photovoltaic Based Grid-connected Resilient DC Microgrid System, Application no. 202111006081, Dated 15/02/2021). It is published, and the first examination report’s (FER) comments have been addressed. Apart from patent, I have published several research papers (2 SCIE, 3 Scopus, 2 book chapters, 5 conferences, 1 journal paper is under review). A book proposal of mine, “Book Title; DC microgrids: structure, control, power, and energy management,” is accepted in the River Publication. I have done my M.Tech in AHES (alternate hydro Energy System (AHEC)) from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IITR). This is the dedicated department of renewable energy. Now the department name has also changed to Hydro and renewable energy department (HRED). After M.tech, I joined the same department in IIT Roorkee as a research associate in research projects and prepared solar and micro-hydro detailed project reports (DPRs). I did my B, tech from HBTI (Now HBTU) Kanpur.As an energy researcher, my work considers the role of renewable energy for the improvement of the living standard in sustained development. I have focused on topics that impact people’s lives socially, economically, and technologically. From my previous experiences and current interests, I see myself doing interdisciplinary research with researchers from Computer Science, mechanical, electrical, and energy. I am open to all problems related to energy solutions for communities. I intend to stay involved in developing this branch of energy science and keep exploring this field. I am particularly interested in developing various effective methods of power and energy management of small and medium DC microgrids with extended functionalities such as differentiation of loads according to their supply priority, Demand Side Management (DSM), etc. I am enthusiastic about applying system principles to solve practical, real-world system problems and to build deployable systems. In recent years the power network is changing dramatically as many major control processes are being automated or semi-automated. This gives rise to many problems that involve control aspects. Next five years I am looking forward to focusing on research areas to address the resource management and storage optimization challenges arising especially community energy issues.
