I have worked in the NHS since 2007 in various roles. I have now been working in psychological roles since 2009 and I qualified as a Chartered and Registered Clinical Psychologist in 2016. Since qualification I have been working in forensic settings, including forensic mental health, prisons and community outreach. I have specialised in the relationship between trauma, mental health and personality. This has included specialist training such as Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), leadership in this area such as initiatives around working with complex trauma and the effect on trauma on unusual psychological experiences, and supervising and providing consultation in the area for a number of other professionals. I also run a psychotherapy practice, New Meanings Psychology, that provides individual psychotherapy, and professional services such as supervision and consultancy. Within the roles, I provide psychotherapy for a number of different needs, including depression, anxiety, feelings being stuck and alone, emotional difficulties, bereavement, and cultural/ social issues. My professional and personal interests lie in the impact of trauma, social injustice and disparity. I am actively involved in grass roots movements that focus on healing in communities and changing the current reality of injustice and disparity that exists for large numbers of people.
