PROFESSIONAL SUMMARYDr. Brendel has been engaged in private optometric practice since 1984, with optometric expertise in the areas of ocular pathology and disease detection, ocular therapeutic drug management, contact lenses, pediatric and geriatric optometry, cataract surgery co-management, laser refractive surgery management, and general family optometry.Dr. Brendel has been a consultant for Sacramento television channel KCRA and CW31 since 1997, appearing in numerous reports regarding eye health and vision care. He has also served as a professional eyecare opinion and resource for The Tom Sullivan radio broadcast on Sacramento talk radio station 1530 over the past decade. In addition, he has appeared in numerous print, online, and video promotional campaigns for the largest vision insurance provider in the country, Vision Service Plan.After establishing Visions Eyecare and Eyewear as a Sacramento eyecare mainstay, Dr. Brendel chose to transfer ownership of Visions in August of 2009 to join California's largest optometry network of providers, FirstSight Vision Services, Inc. He practiced full-time in Yuba City, CA through June of 2017, and was distinguished by the California state senate as the top eye care provider in the Yuba-Sutter community. He continues to provide on-call services for FirstSight throughout the greater Sacramento area.As of July 2017, Dr. Brendel joined the medical eyecare practice of Dr. Lewis Bliss, an ophthalmologist in Sacramento, CA. This practice has a three-decade history of setting the standard in advanced cataract surgical procedures, laser and refractive eye care surgeries, as well as a wide variety of specialty and general optometric and ophthalmological services.Dr. Brendel participates in several vision and medical insurance panels, is a Lions Club vision care provider, and performs numerous school vision screenings yearly.
