I lead a team of editors and journalists covering news, opinion and research across the entire landscape of translational and clinical research.

I employ my expertise in clinical and translational research to help our publishing team to map opportunities for growth of the Nature portfolio into the clinical arena and to develop proposals for launch of new journals

I handle papers across a range of topics for Cell, focusing mostly in immunology, infectious diseases, cancer therapeutics and translational medicine. In this capacity, I work towards developing a strong network of relationships with scientists world-wide, participating in meetings and conferences, site visits, and talks about publishing and communicating science at the Universities and research institutes. I work with a multi-disciplinary talented team to identify upcoming trends, emerging areas, and opportunities to help the scientific enterprise to move forward. I participate in initiatives to help to improve the peer-review process and the general experience of authors and reviewers working with Cell Press journals. I commission Reviews, Minireviews, Perspectives and multiple types of non-source formats focused on communicating science to diverse audiences.I have experience with organization of conferences, special review issues and development of products and sponsored collections of articles. I'm deeply involved with management of our digital platforms, including cell.com/cell, social media channels, as well as commissioning and curation of our video abstracts for the Cell Youtube channel.More recently, I also took additional roles related to training of new editors, management of journal pipeline and scheduling.

As consulting editor, I worked with the Cell Reports editorial team providing scientific and editorial advice on publication of papers in the areas of immunology, microbiology, virology, cancer and metabolism.

During my postdoctoral training at the Lymphocyte Biology Section of the Laboratory of Systems Biology, under the mentorship of Ron Germain, I worked in problems related to understanding how T cell recognize antigens and how our immune system is set up to help us to 'predict' the types of pathogens we may face later in life. I also applied this knowledge to help to develop ways to select T cells that are best fit to fight cancer.

In my PhD I was interested in understanding why people that develop autoimmune diseases have such different clinical presentations and why some diseases attack a specific organ of the body, but not others. Combining cellular and molecular immunology tools, I investigated how immunological tolerance develops in the context of organ-specific autoimmunity, and what is the relative contribution of peripheral versus central tolerance mechanisms in determining the target organs in this type of disease.
