I have conducted numerous classes training members of local critical incident stress teams, chaplains groups, and the American Legion. I coordinated the Critical Incident response to the downing of TWA Flight 800 in Suffolk County, NY, July 17, 1996 and have conducted hundreds of interventions for Fire and EMS agencies in Suffolk County, NY, the Port Authority Police of NY and NJ, including interventions for 9/11, and several area police agencies.

I serve as a chaplain for Southampton Town Police. Duties include counseling Police officers, detectives, dispatchers, and sometimes members of the general public only when recommended by the department. I am an educator and have led training sessions, provide support through presence at HQ, and function in a ceremonial way as needed (memorial service, awards assemblies, funerals, etc. We work in conjunction with an officer’s clergy, and provide services for those who don’t have a clergy person of their own.

I am a staff paramedic for Hampton Bays EMS. Duties include keeping units response-ready, basic and advanced life support when dispatched within the community, managing trauma cases, coordination of aviation responses for critical patients, interfacing with all local hospital emergency staff, trauma center staff, and specialty center staff. I serve as a paramedic preceptor for students in the Suffolk County College paramedic program. I see being both a pastor and a paramedic as complementary callings, each enhances the other.

I am the director of the 30 member Critical Incident Stress Management Team of Suffolk County NY, supervising mental health professionals, clergy, and peer members in the oldest CISM Team in the United States. We respond to over 150 incidents every year providing on scene and departmental interventions, have a robust educational division that teaches Emergency Service Providers stress management, and resiliency following Critical Incidents.
