Hypnosis, practiced by our team, is an essential and effective way of guiding children's behavior during dental care in our office. Hypnosis works by focusing on your child's awareness on the non-threatening aspects of the experience at the dentist, while being in a state of modified consciousness. By playing, telling stories and using diversion, we help your child enter a fantasy world thereby forgetting about the dental procedure while remaining responsive. For example, we discuss the treatment in a language appropriate to the age of your child, tell stories, maintain continuous verbal contact, encourage your child even after the treatment, and congratulate which strengthens your child’s positive feelings. Hypnosis also allows a reduced perception of pain and leaves positive memories of the treatment session.
