Various roles in the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in the Manchester Institute of Education, based in The University of Manchester. Work included:Teaching a 12-week postgraduate academic study skills unit. Topics included academic writing and literature, library search techniques, plagiarism, essay and dissertation writing, and English for academic purposes. Supervising final year undergraduate dissertation students through the whole dissertation process – from conception of ideas, design and implementation of research, to writing up and submission.Grading and providing feedback on final undergraduate dissertation submissions, research projects and postgraduate coursework.Planning and delivering sessions on research design and implementation.Delivering a quantitative research methods training programme, providing in-class support for students.Designing and producing the content for an online research methods unit, delivered to postgraduate distance learning students.Developing a newsletter for the Initial Teacher Training department - designing and editing the overall look and content of the newsletter, as well as developing a plan for distribution and use of social media.Topics engaged with through this work included educational inclusion, special educational needs, creative teaching approaches, pupil aspirations, behavioural issues in schools, literacy underachievement, gender and attainment, gender stereotypes and the use of non-standard English in the classroom.

Planning and producing editorial articles on a range of subjects, including travel, music, food and drink, gadgets and lifestyle.Writing commercial copy for competitions and advertisements to run alongside on air promotions.

Managing the content produced by three full time copywriters.Work included blogs, website content and news articles, as well as managing social media accounts for a number of clients.

Writing, editing and administering all content for an online guide to Manchester. Content included news, features, interviews and reviews, covering all aspects of Manchester nightlife – clubs, bars and restaurants. Also maintained site’s Twitter account and blog.
