Dr. Gupta is currently the Chairman, Expert Appraisal Committee (Industry- II) for Environmental Impact Assessment & Clearance with the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Government of India. Dr. Gupta is an alumnus & topper of LIT, Nagpur (B. Tech) & IIT Delhi (M. Tech). He completed his Ph.D in Engineering from University of Toronto & has numerous publications in International journals. Dr. Gupta has professional background in Oil and Gas Sector including Petrochemicals. He is considered an authority in Renewable Energy, Bio Energy and Hydrogen Energy. He has deep understanding of Environment and Climate Change mitigations. An Industry thought leader & prolific writer, Dr. Gupta is the originator of ‘Swatch Bharat Mission’ and the ‘Gold Bond’ Schemes of the Govt. of India. His articles on Hydrogen, Climate Change, Clean Energy, Public Health, Abrogation of Article 370 & China have been published in leading national & business dailies like Economic Times, The Statesman etc. He has been a keynote speaker on Clean Energy, Climate Change, Environment, Process Safety, Risk Management, water conservation and inspirational speaker on management. Dr. Gupta started his professional career with Engineers India Ltd. as Process Engineer for Refineries, Petrochemicals and Fertilizers Complexes. He then went on to work with the National Petrochemical Company in Iran as Project Group Leader for 6.0 billion dollars project- Petrochemical Complex. Dr. Gupta returned to India from the US on the request of Former Prime Minister, Late Smt. Indira Gandhi. He joined Vam Organosys (Now Jubilant Organosys) & rapidly rose to the positions of President and Managing Director of Group Companies including Degussa AG, the largest specialty chemical companies in the World. He is credited for setting up of Monoethylene Glycol project from Can Sugar Molasses for the first time in the World. Dr. Gupta has been on the Selection Boards of National Green Tribunal (NGT) and Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) for the members and member secretary positions. He has been a member of Quality Council of India (QCI). In addition to his current role at the Ministry of Environment, Dr. Gupta is the Chairman of the Environment Committee, PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry (PHDCCI). He is also on the board of Norwegian Companies like GreenStat Hydrogen India and Fiberstrength India International. A Trustee of Art of Living, Dr. Gupta is involved with several organizations working for the upliftment of the underprivileged.
