I enable people to develop their musical skills, become independent learners and achieve their highest dreams through a progressive course of learning and quality assured assessment.I’m one of the founders and managing director of the International School of Musicians. We provide online music lessons and graded examinations for everyone. We are breaking down the barriers to music education and assessment, bringing world-class music education fit for the 21st-century world. There's no time to waste, so we've developed a whole-brain approach to learning music, speeding up the process from beginner musician to advanced.How did I come up with that? Through my experience of performing, teaching, assessing, researching and working. I’m an experienced professional musician, having started my career in 1990 in music theatre. Through 27 years of teaching experience in schools and 23 years of assessing as a graded examiner. I am active in research, and I have completed a doctorate in education on how a combination of instrumental curriculum and assessment leads to independent learning, building your learning power. I regularly present at international conferences and have my papers published.In addition, through my experience of working in alternative arenas; I’ve also been a mushroom picker, washed and packed dead bodies for a living.You can also find me leading flash mobs with my ukulele, I’m a 2009 Guinness World Record Holder for the largest ukulele ensemble. I also enjoy Horse Racing and Formula E, single malts, Shakespeare, Elvis reading academic journals and living in the 5th dimension.I have strong ethical values that hold me to my core belief that we are all equal. I define my critical paradigm as intending to empower people through music education and assessment with a view to social change. I’m not in this to make money; I’m doing it because it makes my heart sing.I place my philosophical assumptions, epistemological foundations and ontological beliefs in a critical, constructivist and interpretive approach to reality. By this, I have come to understand and believe reality is constructed by many and shaped through our values and experiences…say whaaat?Err, yeah, anything is possible; your creativity is unlimited; your thoughts become things, today’s reality is simply a mirror of yesterday’s thinking.
