I have had the privilege of working in different university settings teaching economic and theological principles. At Asbury University, some of my key teachings were:• Guiding students through process of exploring economic and theological principles of justice in light of global poverty, using key concepts in development theory as guide.• One of highest reviewed classes (out of ~200 total).At United Theological Seminary:• I currently serve as a faculty supervisor for doctoral students research and dissertation process.
Ecumenical leadership development organization:- Led team of 3 to develop intercultural training for groups of up to 20 student interns at a time.- Co-managed student leadership development events with politicians such as Sec. Hillary Clinton, Rep. Frank Wolf, and Sen. Al Franken.- Spent 3 years as full-time community development associate in Macedonia.- Co-Managed large youth sports league (including $500K sports complex), and 1st division national basketball team.- Led development projects to teach and fund innovative agricultural projects (raised $100K).- Led reconciliation and peace building initiatives among young political and business leaders in war-torn areas of former Yugoslavia with ROM. Efforts featured in Huffington Post.
- Managed staff of 5 and $750K annual budget to direct college activism program that grew from 20 college chapters to 180+; oversaw social justice education programs for 80K+ participating students.- Served as lead writer and editor of college activism book (A Guide to Acting on AIDS), published by Authentic publishing house (30K+ copies sold and distributed).- Taught seminars on AIDS epidemic to up to 1K college students at a time, encouraging them to sign petitions urging POTUS to earmark 15% of PEPFAR budget ($2B+) for orphans and vulnerable children. Advocacy succeeded.- Invited to speak at 10+ CCCU Colleges and Universities, UC San Diego, and Christian Connections for Global Health: “Responding to the AIDS pandemic with Faith and Action.”
Directed yearly “Victory Against Hunger” fundraiser to give $1K grants ($30K total) to Members of Congress to donate to hunger fighting agencies within their constituencies.
