Dr. Muthusamy Karthikeyan is currently working as Director (Coastal Engineering) for Surbana Jurong Consultants Pte Ltd. He received his Doctoral of Philosophy and Master of Engineering in Geotechnical Engineering from the National University of Singapore. He is a registered Chartered Engineer - Infrastructure (Singapore) and Design for Safety Professional. He has been trained in geotechnical and coastal engineering with more than 25 years of professional experience in research and consultancy (planning, design and construction) in the topic of offshore site investigation, seabed characterization, geotechnical testing specialist, ground improvement works, land reclamation, geohydrology, polder design, dike closures, seepage and slope stability, and embankment/dike construction. He has shared his expertise through publications and presentations of technical papers in international journals and conferences. He has been an active member of the Geotechnical Society of Singapore (GeoSS) since 2008 and served as an executive committee member since 2014. He held the prestigious position of President of the Geotechnical Society of Singapore from January 2022 to December 2023. He is a member of the ISSMGE Technical Committee (TC303) on Coastal and River Disaster Mitigation and Rehabilitation.
