Energy Monitoring of Social Houisng (Nottingham city Homes)Working with Nottingham City Homes; the project is an exemplar study and the outcomes and knowledge will be disseminated with DECC, CLG and the Homes & community agency. The study has provided the householders with an increase in their knowledge of how to reduce energy use, learn which ways of reducing energy use are most viable and most effective; this will help address the fuel poverty issue also the findings will influence both regional and national policies in the field of energy saving initiatives in all housing. My role was to manage the whole project where the project involves selecting 40+ homes from 9 common social housing types, identify, purchase and use sophisticated sensors systems to remotely monitor and evaluate all aspects of existing building fabric elements, monitoring domestic social housing energy usage (utility), Undertake the setting up of instrumentation and monitoring equipment within the properties, including the wiring, testing and calibrating of these. Undertake data collection and analysis of the results from the monitoring equipment installed within the properties monitoring energy usage before and after retrofitting. Investigate the relationship between building fabric and energy usage, investigate occupancy behavior and energy consumption, monitoring energy saving measured installed in the homes and providing Energy advice to the Occupants, Students and presenting the findings at various conferences and seminars

Research Asistant / Energy Monitoring
UK governmant CarB (carbon reduction in Building) & European cyber display project.European Cyber (Communicate Your Buildings Energy Rating) Display Building Energy project, which involved working with various European partners in Qualitative and Quantitative Research; my work involved analysing energy data of over Ten thousand European municipal buildings, report writing, preparing, managing online questionnaires and interviewing clients, to identify the main factors that contributed to the buildings energy ratings and carbon. The objective of Cyber Display was to show that, reducing the consumption of buildings in Europe can significantly be accelerated if local authorities can stimulate behavioural change by communicating the performances of their buildings to politicians, technicians, building users, different municipal departments and the public. This was achieved by increasing the visibility and quality of local Communication Campaigns in Europe and analysing the effects they have on actual building performance improvements. The finding concluded that if certificates are designed to be eye-catching, engaging and easy to understand, they can be used as a communication tool for a wide variety of audiences, from school children to politicians. If certificates are too technical, their usefulness as a communication tool for the general public will be limited.
Research Fellow
Low Energy, Low Carbon sustainability building my work involves using CFD simulation modeling to design a low energy / zero (low) carbon emission air distribution environmental friendly system for new buildings. The project involves establishing if natural ventilation can be used as an alternative air distribution, air ventilation system to provide healthier air, thermal comfort for the occupants instead of the mechanical cooling units and thus having environmental friendly occupied buildings having low carbon emissions
Researcher
Thermal Comfort: Stabilising Airflows In Chilled Ceiling / Displacement Ventilation Environment.Research project (based at both De Montfort University and Loughborough University) was based on the international trend towards climate change; low Energy, low cooling technologies, and environmental friendly system which included indoor environmental issues relating to air quality and thermal comfort of occupants in offices. This five-year project involved me using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation modeling and laboratory investigation on heat transfer and air ventilation in offices. The research investigated a new sustainable low energy technique for achieving stable conditions for displacement airflow and thus enhances the thermal comfort of the occupants. The research work included studied on various ISO standards including ISO 14001, and ISO 16001. The outcome of the study has provided general advice for designers as regards the combination of the ventilation systems, whilst continuing trends towards low cooling technologies, low energy use and environmental friendly systems.
