Here's how I did it…Keep the PromiseI identified S.M.A.R.T. goals with each manager and each highly creative and technology-driven team member supporting the adoption of open educational resources in lieu of costly textbooks to align with the strategic initiative of ensuring affordability for learners enrolled in the university. I provided feedback and measured along the way to empower individuals toward goal achievement. As a result, we exceeded our first-year goal of 8% OER adoption in all courses to 12% adoption in all courses. Inform the ProcessI initiated and refined structured collaborations among inter-departmental program design and course development processes involving locally and remotely located stakeholders to deliver best in class curricular approaches that are suited to industry and discipline-specific needs.Let Data Do the DrivingI set in place data-driven continuous improvement practices that are fueled by industry informed, comprehensive program reviews, learning and course analytics, quantitative and qualitative course evaluation survey data, along with enrollment, persistence and achievement trends.Stay the CourseMy approach to team development and management led to the consistent delivery of 20 best in class online undergraduate and graduate programs (over 280 online courses) to meet the institutional goal of delivering one to two new or updated programs per academic year during all organizational seasons.The Winning StrategyAll of this is ultimately possible through servant leadership, where we lead by developing our team members to work from their strengths and contribute to an ‘all in’ culture of high performance with the highest standards of integrity and care.
