About Dr Leah Bishop

Leah is a highly qualified Oil & Gas Engineer with extensive experience in the oil & gas sector, predominantly in Western Australian north-west shelf developments. Leah developed Inherent in 2011, out of a passion for wanting to support her colleagues and clients to work smarter not harder in the resources sector with a focus on safety and risk management. Over the past 11 years Leah has built Inherent to be the most trusted advisor Risk Consultancy for the Mining, Oil and Gas and Chemical Processing sectors.As well as running her company, Leah works on projects where she utilises her practical expertise with across all lifecycle phases to provide technical safety and risk, strategic risk management, safety case development and hazard assessment services. Her strength (apart from her awesome arm in softball and her witty sense of humour) really is in her customer focussed delivery. She enjoys providing Risk Management techniques such as HAZID, HAZOP, PHA, PHA/SOA, SIMOPS, FSA, SIL and safety case development. Leah has also worked internationally on a number of projects and also commits her time to supporting charitable causes that align with her mission : to keep people safe !

It is the country’s most prominent single resource natural gas project and features among the largest natural gas projects in the world.Responsible for facilitating all risk-based workshops including HAZID, ENVID, HAZOP SIMOPS and decision workshops for the Upstream work scope and undertaking all risk-based assessment of pipeline and subsea facilities including, but not limited to:- Pipeline design in line with the AS2885 Risk Assessment requirements including all workshops and documentation to support the 3rd party design verification process. - Loss of containment modelling for all elements of the Upstream scope (DOMGAS and Gorgon and Jansz facilities),- Pipeline management plans as required by 3rd party design verification bodies and Government regulators.- Formal Safety Assessment including SCE&PS with a strong interface with Downstream for smooth transition to Phase 5 requirements.- Fishing/Trawling risk assessment.- Dropped object studies and subsequent recommendations for impact protection.- Maintenance of project risk related procedures and documentation (Risk plans and process procedures).- All activities undertaken in-line with Chevrons Operational Excellence (OE) philosophy.- Interface management between all Upstream packages and their respective contractors, together with - Downstream interfacing as required to progress to completion risk-based activities.- Risk reporting to management monthly, describing the risk status of all Upstream procurement and construction packages.- Construction contractors’ interfacing through attendance at HAZID workshops and document checking &/or approval for site works.- Ambassador for the Chevron OE process by striving to achieve greater effectiveness through meeting training for the whole Upstream team.
