She oversaw the creation and growth of informal science-education initiatives aimed at building a STEM-capable workforce to sustain a diversified knowledge economy for the Emirate.She led a dramatic financial turnaround and expansion as president/CEO of the Great Lakes Science Center (GLSC). During her 13 years at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, she served as vice president of education and guest relations for its family of museum sites. Equipped with a deep understanding of STEM and STEM education as well as the arts, culture, science and political sectors, she has served as a trustee to an array of nonprofit organizations and institutions. She has a doctorate in science education from the University of Southern California, MBA from Pepperdine University and bachelor of arts from UCLA.

Since joining the Museum, Dr. Silver has:• Fully renovated two of the Museum’s 11 permanent galleries and developed the Museum’s first in-house curated exhibition – Origins: Fossils from the Cradle of Humankind – in partnership with National Geographic and Witwatersrand University, South Africa. Also debuted the Paleo Lab providing visitors real-time views of its field research and discoveries.• Assessed the Museum’s collections, acquired real estate and created a state-of-the-art facility where 150,000-plus specimens from the nearly century-old natural-history collections are stored in accordance with American Alliance of Museums standards. The facility also houses new laboratories and offices for Museum research scientists.• Worked with the Board of Directors to diversify its membership and streamline committee processes.
