My practice was 50% Portuguese-speaking Brazilian. I learned to speak Portuguese to be able to serve a Brazilian community that had previously been neglected by a healthcare system flush with physicians! I also welcomed families who choose alternative therapies and non-standard vaccination practices. At Natick Pediatrics I was always willing to TALK to families, in depth, about every issue related to children. The practice never dismissed a family summarily for wanting to do things differently. MY goal was to educate, never to dictate.

During this time, I participated in a medical study looking at the prevalence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria in children and their parents.
