Advisory & Scientific Committee MemberMwan Events May 2018 - PresentDubai, United Arab EmiratesI'm the leader of the GCC Taskforce on Workforce Development in Digital Healthcare (ZIMAM). This is a non-for-profit initiative that strives for sustainable digital health ecosystems through the provision of adequate supply of skilled and empowered local digital workforce. We believe that by bringing together all stakeholders (i.e., government, academy, industry, healthcare organisations and others) across the GCC region, we can develop a competency-based framework for digital health professionals’ development and career paths that secure a future-ready workforce. -
Leader Of The Working Group & Member Of The National Health Informatics CommitteeSaudi Commission For Health Specialties (Scfhs) Mar 2018 - Dec 2018Riyadh, Saudi ArabiaWith the growing number of health informatics professionals in Saudi Arabia, there are no Health Informatics Competency Frameworks used to guide employers and licensing and credentialing bodies on how to evaluate health informatics professionals in Saudi Arabia. This has a led to an informal recognition of health informatics professionals working within the domain. Obtaining formal recognition for Health Informatics (HI) as a licensed and credentialed profession will help alleviate the problems currently associating with the informal recognition of health informatics professionals in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, we developed the Saudi Health Informatics Competency Framework that defines the initial core HI domains, area of skills, and competencies that are needed to perform as a health informatics professional in Saudi Arabia. We used an iterative, evidence-based approach, with validation from key stakeholders to develop the competency framework. We believe that the Saudi Health Informatics Competency Framework will help in improving the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties’ ability to scope the field and provide credentialing systems, which will have an impact on:• Defining more clearly the core body of knowledge and competencies underpinning this discipline.• Playing a key role in designing educational and training programs.• Defining career pathways.• Contributing to a wider recognition of the HI profession.• Promoting consistency with respect to accreditation standards, credentialing/licensureexams, and study guides for candidates of HI professionals.• Setting clear expectations of professionals’ performance in the workplace.• Promoting collaboration between traditional healthcare professionals and non-traditionalhealthcare professionals in the diverse area of healthcare practice within the field of HI.The findings of the study can be accessed at this link: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1386505620318980?via%3Dihub -
