In addition, it is building a Swiss network in the field of nano and materials technologies: nano.swiss.As program responsible in nanotechnology and materials technology and (like the rest of the team) as a technology and innovation expert, I aim at setting new trends in industry and research in these key technologies!

Leading a small team of highly qualified engineers and scientists:– Development and market introduction of several generations of PVD hardcoating equipment (cathodic arc technology)– Research into and development of advanced industrial coatings: • Superhard nanocomposites • Tribological coatings • Oxynitrides and oxides • Functionally graded, multilayer and complex nanostructured coatings • Thin-film specific characterization methods such as nanoindentation, calotest, GA-XRD, SEM and TEM– Application-specific coating development and technology transfer for tooling and wear applications including DOE optimizations– In-house development of tribological (wear and friction) test methods for ambient and high-temperature conditions– Customer support and world-wide on-site advanced training; expert tutorials (e.g. OTTI seminar lecturer)– Research project acquisition & management, swiss national and EU projects– Design and evaluation of metal cutting tests for all common tool types– Development of customized cutting edge pre- and post-treatment methods including radius measurements
