About Marianne Christina Jacobsen

My goal is to apply my passion for the life sciences in an innovative environment, and find novel solutions to healthcare issues. As a Scientist in the Validation team at Nordic Bioscience A/S I validate assays used by the company in clinical studies.I am an accomplished biomedical research scientist with over 20+ years of experience in a range of fields including medical microbiology, immunology, cellular biology, virology, genetics, neurology, and environmental microbiology. This has resulted in multiple publications and over £500,000 in grant funding. I have been a member of and managed large teams cohesively across projects and national and international clinical trials evaluating paediatric HIV, using immunology markers of disease severity.I have applied my research and information processing skills to change fields, such as neurobiology, and applied my technical skills set to agricultural sciences. I have a creative approach to problem solving, and fuse my expertise to develop and innovate novel approaches to disease treatments.I am a communication specialist and have delivered undergraduate courses in introductory biology, genetics and microbiology to 30-200 students. I have also taught young scientists and new talent experimental design, data recording, and data analysis.Personally, I am a martial arts practitioner, and have obtained my black belt in both Shorinji Kan Jiu Jitsu and Shindo Jiu Jitsu. I also practice Judo with my children, and have obtained my blue belt. I enjoy spending time with my family, going running and cycling, as well as knitting and crocheting.Let’s connect!
