About Megan Yucel, Phd

I am a Research Fellow at the Australian Council for Educational Research, where I have the role of educational test developer in ACER's Assessment Development division. In the course of my career as an educator, I have worked in a diverse range of roles in Turkey, the United Kingdom and Australia. I have extensive experience in both teaching and creating materials for students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. I am a co-author of the edX IELTS Academic test preparation course, one of the 50 most popular MOOCs of all time, based on enrolments. As a test writer and examiner, I have worked on a range of large-scale national and international tests, assessing a variety of skills, including listening, reading, writing, speaking, and use of English. My PhD research focused on English language assessment, exploring the perceptions of candidates in a high-stakes test. My latest publication is an IELTS-funded research project which investigated stakeholder perceptions of IELTS in Japan. I have presented at international education conferences and workshops in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Austria, Turkey, Thailand, and Vietnam.
