About Dr. Michael Thomas

Deputy Director National Cyber Range at Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC LANT) formerly (SPAWAR LANT).Previously recalled to Active Duty at HQ USEUCOM 1Oct2013-30Sep2015.Dr. (LtCol) Michael L. Thomas was until recently assigned to the USAF Cyber College as a Professor of Cyberwarfare Studies at Maxwell AFB. He was previously a Senior Systems Engineer with the Naval Information Warfare Center LANT (NIWC). In that assignment he was resident at Patch Barracks, Stuttgart, Germany, working in the Information Superiority and Knowledge Management Branch (ISKM) of USEUCOM. In this capacity he was responsible for the design, implementation and fielding of major Information Collaboration projects initiated by the Navy, sister services and other US government customers. His prior assignment with SPAWAR was in the Heidelberg Office supporting HQ USAREUR in Geospatial Engineering. While serving on detached special duty (since being activated in March 2007) he served a short tour at the Pentagon, served as a Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) LNO to the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), and lastly was assigned to the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) as an instructor teaching Cyberwar courses.
