As the Founding Partner, Managing Partner, and Managing Director of OneVentures, a leading Australian venture capital firm with over $900M in funds under management, I invest in transformative businesses building for the future. My journey into venture capital followed a successful career as an IT industry business owner, entrepreneur, and angel investor. In 1999, I founded E Com Industries (www.giftvouchers.com), one of Australia’s first fintech’s which went on to become the leading prepaid card and electronic voucher provider in Australia, New Zealand and was expanding into the UK and South Africa when it was acquired in 2005 by UK listed company, Retail Decisions (LSE, RED), delivering a 4.6x return to investors and a 70% average IRR. Prior to E Com Industries, I also co-founded two businesses in Education and IT Services. With a focus on innovation that can make a real difference, I established OneVentures initially as my angel investment company and then transforming it into a venture capital firm in 2010 with my fellow founding partners, Paul Kelly, and Anne-Marie Birkill, closing our first fund in that year. Since then, OneVentures has launched 7 funds and built a remarkable portfolio across technology and healthcare. Notable investments where I have taken a deal lead or co-lead, and board roles include Employment Hero (Chairperson 2016-2023) (Fund II exit at 13x), Phocas Group, Vaxxas, Hatchtech (FDA approved), Smart Sparrow (sold to Pearson Learning) and more recently Buildkite. OneVentures, at the Australian Investment Council’s annual awards, received the Best Venture Capital Investment for both Hatchtech and Employment Hero and, at the World Vaccine Congress, the Best Venture Capital deal award for Vaxxas recognising syndicate, deal structure and investment potential. With expertise in global business expansion, I apply my 20+ years of experience developing high-growth technology companies to support the development of our OneVentures portfolio. Over this time, I have had the opportunity to serve on a range of boards - large and small, listed, and unlisted across the US and Australia, most recently joining as a member of the Payment System Board for the Reserve Bank of Australia. In 2022, I co-founded WinVC, a non-profit women-led initiative, focused on supporting the career trajectory of women investors in venture capital. I was also a founding advisory board member of Head over Heels (now Apropela) supporting women entrepreneurs. I also present the Venture Capital portion of the AIC’s Foundations of Private Capital Course.
