Drawing on a career of providing counselling and therapeutic support in areas including CBT, mental health, sexual and domestic violence, I am fortunate to have the opportunity to serve in a multi-faceted professional capacity. In addition to managing my own caseload of clients with various clinical diagnoses, I develop best practice for clinical standards in this field, and supplement this by defining and delivering continuing professional development interventions for practitioners serving in a range of capacities. Completing my Ph.D. part-time in four years, rather than the anticipated six, reinforces, I believe, my tenacity and determination to see a task or issue through to its conclusion. My personal management style is characterised by seeking out the positive and leading by example, and feedback indicates that I offer particular strengths in taking a collaborative, hands-on approach in order to build trust-based relationships, unify joint effort and support others to realise their potential. I am motivated by what each of my roles seeks to achieve. I feel privileged to offer the practical skills necessary to be able to support the management of highly involved and emotionally charged situations, in an empathetic and professional manner. In each of my roles – whether providing supervision, training others, or providing counselling services myself – placing the needs of users, and promoting the delivery of services with integrity, dignity and compassion, is at the heart of what I do.
