CurrentDr. Md Saief Uddin, a pioneer Hepatobiliary, Pancreatic, and Liver Transplant Surgeon of Bangladesh working in this field since 2001. He graduated from Chittagong Medical College. He kept his interest in this field after completing his internship. He is currently working as an Associate professor of HBP and Liver Transplant Surgery in the Department of HBP and Liver Transplant Surgery at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). He completed Fellowship in General Surgery (FCPS), from Bangladesh College of Physician and surgeon and pursued FRCS degree from Royal college of Surgeons. He obtained his Fellowship on Liver Transplant from one of the renowned Liver transplant Centers of India, under the supervision of world’s renowned Hepatobiliary and Liver Transplant Surgeon Dr. Arvinder Singh Soin. With this experience he was able to supervise 4 liver transplants in Bangladesh and is prepared to serve to peoples of Bangladesh. In pancreas he performs Whipple’s procedure for cancer of pancreatic head, bile duct, periampullary and duodenal carcinoma which is considered as most complicated and time-consuming operation. Besides this he performs operations for pancreatic stone, pancreatic cancer, cystic disease of pancreas along with operations for Spleen. In Gall bladder & bile duct he performs surgeries like Extended cholecystectomy for Gall bladder cancer, biliary bypass surgery, bile duct exploration, Bile duct injuries. Beside all these operations he is also expertise in laparoscopic surgeries and performs about 100 of laparoscopic surgeries for gall stone disease, liver cyst annually. He is not only involved in operative procedure but also involved in production of promising Hepatobiliary, pancreatic, and liver transplant Surgeon in Bangladesh as well as foreign countries through BSMMU. Dr. Saief is also keenly interested in exploring the recent updates in HBP surgery and participates in various seminar, symposium in national and international level.
