1. Undertake independent research project on scientific programs as per the mandate of SMRC related to Numerical Weather Prediction and Data Assimilation of using Doppler Weather Radar data;2. To conduct collaborative research work on Extreme Weather Events (Thunderstorms, Hailstorms, Tornado etc.) under SAARC STORM program of SMRC;3. To conduct individual study on Thunderstorms, Tornado, Cyclones, Heavy rainfall, seasonal prediction etc using NWP Models; 4. Analyze and forecast weather, make consultation on atmospheric phenomena and conduct research on the processes and phenomena of weather, climate and atmosphere using sophisticated computer and mathematical models, satellite and radar data;5. Liaise closely with the NMHSs and Regional Meteorological Scientists; 6. To publish research studies in the renowned international journals;7. Applying physical and mathematical relationships and sophisticated computer models to make short- and long-range weather forecasts;8. Support for planning and organizing of meetings and associated workshops, and technical conferences in Regional Association (SAARC) and prepare supporting documents, technical reports, plans, analyses and presentations; 9. Participating in the National-International seminars, workshops, and conferences on present research outcomes;10. Analyze atmospheric models and data gathered from a variety of sources for trends and correlations;11. Preparation of Scientific reports and research papers, maintenance of data-bases and software in personal computer and Unix-server;12. Make scientific presentations and publish reports for management, special interest groups, and the end users;

1. Collecting of data (national and international) from Global Telecommunication System (GTS), satellite and radar images;2. Taking observations of weather elements such as air pressure, temperature and humidity at various atmospheric levels;3. Coding and decoding of weather messages collected from national and international network;4. Plotting weather data for preparation of Synoptic charts, constant pressure charts, Tphi-gram, upper air different level charts;5. Checking the Maximum, Minimum Temperatures, Humidity, Precipitation amount and Thermodynamic instability parameters from T-phi-gram for preparation of day to day weather forecast;6. Liaising with colleagues and clients around home and abroad;7. Provide weather bulletins to the media agencies;8. Issuing warning to the Airports, Sea ports, river ports, Media, Armed services and some Government departments for significant weather events;9. Keep informed to Fisheries Department for Sea condition;10. Issue weather forecast to the Media and various agencies;11. Prepare Flight folders containing ROFOR, TAFORS, SIG. WX and Upper level charts;12. Issue half hourly METARS and three hourly SYNOPS at Shah Amanat (R) International Airport;13. Looking after the technical and administrative activities of the Aeronautical Meteorology section;14. Issue warnings to protect life and property during severe weather of Tropical Cyclones, Thunderstorms, Tornadoes, Heavy rainfall and flash floods;15. Apply meteorological knowledge to solve problems in agriculture, air pollution, water management, forestry and transportation;16. Answer media inquiries during special weather events and provide information to the public;17. Predict weather patterns to make short- and long-range forecasts, including specialized forecasts for marine, aviation, transport, and industries;18. Carry out other relevant responsibilities as required and instructed by higher authority.
