As an accomplished hydro-meteorological scientist with over 20 years of experience in the industry, I have contributed significantly to the advancement of knowledge in various fields, including oceanography, meteorology, and climate change. With a Ph.D. in Data Assimilation and Mesoscale Weather Extreme Prediction, my expertise has been instrumental in numerous national and international projects.My extensive experience has led me to work on several projects, including the World Bank-funded BWDB project entitled “Consultancy service for expansion of flood forecasting model, improve inundation model in coastal and hotspot areas”. Currently, I serve as the Executive Director of the National Oceanographic and Maritime Institute (NOAMI) in Bangladesh, where I lead several research projects.Throughout my career, I have held key positions at the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), the SAARC Metrological Research Centre (SMRC), and the Regional Integrated Multi-Hazard Early Warning System (RIMES) in Bangkok, Thailand. Additionally, I have served as a lead consultant on seasonal and sub-seasonal (s2s) projects for UN ESCAP.My passion for the field has also led me to travel extensively, visiting several countries such as Vietnam, India, Singapore, Japan, China, South Korea, the USA, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Germany, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Sweden, Thailand, and the Maldives.I am an active member of various professional societies and academic committees, including the Bangladesh Physical Society (BPS), Bangladesh Chemical Society (BCS), IAUC, AGU, AOGS, and the Joint Secretary of the South Asian Metrological Association (SAMA). As the Associate Editor of the Journal of NOAMI, I am committed to promoting excellence and innovation in the field.My extensive research work has been published in several impact factor peer-reviewed journals, covering various aspects of ocean and climate extremes, hydro-meteorology, flash floods, Tropical Cyclones, rainfall, nor’westers/tornadoes, monsoons, climate change, and ocean extremes.For my work, I have received several awards, including the Ocean Science Best Trainee Award and the Best Presenter Award (Professionals Category) at the International Conference on Climate Change 2022 (ICCC 2022).Overall, my ability to think critically, solve complex problems, and communicate effectively has made me a valuable asset to any team.
