Dr. Muhammad Akram completed his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering and Technology (Biochemistry) at the Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing, China. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the University of Management and Technology, Lahore, Pakistan. His research domain is in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, and Synthetic Biology to engineer microbial strains to produce industrial compounds. Prior to his Ph.D. (2007-2014), he developed undergraduate and postgraduate laboratory experience between 2007-2014 in microbial and biomedical projects, at COMSATS University (Islamabad, Pakistan) and PMAS Arid-Agriculture University (Rawalpindi, Pakistan). Also received several awards, a research fellowship, and research funding. He had published eighteen (18) research papers in peer-reviewed international journals and more than five (5) in publishing. His future interest to developing bio-sustainable technology with metabolic engineering and synthetic biology approaches to produce industrially important natural compounds.
