I want to take a moment to reflect on my experience as a House Officer in the General Medicine department at Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar. From July 7, 2023, to October 6, 2023, I had the privilege of working at this renowned 1200-bed tertiary care facility affiliated with the Postgraduate Medical Institute in Peshawar. Our hospital serves a vast catchment area, encompassing most of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan and neighboring areas of Afghanistan.During my tenure in the General Medicine department, I gained invaluable experience in diagnosing and managing a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions. My responsibilities included documenting and overseeing admitted patients, assisting consultants during outpatient clinics, and handling cases in the casualty department under the guidance of a registrar or trainee medical officer.I actively participated in ward rounds, always eager to learn and understand the various medical procedures and diagnostics carried out within the ward. I strived to maintain a cooperative and compassionate approach towards patients, and I built strong relationships with my colleagues and the nursing staff.In addition to my clinical responsibilities, I initiated and conducted a significant clinical audit titled "Anticipating Cure: Blood and Urine Cultures Before Starting Antibiotics in Patients Admitted in Medical Ward (A & B) from the Emergency Department at Lady Reading Hospital MTI Peshawar." This audit was aimed at improving patient care by optimizing antibiotic treatment..I authored a LTE addressing important aspects of patient-centered care. While its under publication , the letter to the editor conveyed the importance of the "Patient-Centered TWOC (Trial Without Catheter) Initiative at LRH MTI Peshawar." It was a valuable experience to advocate for improved patient care practices.Furthermore i arranged CPR workshop for my juniors and was herby termed as best HouseOfficer at end of my rotation

I completed a fulfilling three-month rotation as a House Officer in the Gastroenterology and Hepatology department at Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar.During my time in the department, I dedicated myself to providing the best possible patient care. Whether it was handling outpatient consultations, filtration clinics, or inpatient care, I always aimed for excellence. I took pride in taking detailed patient histories, conducting thorough examinations, and performing various procedures, including blood sampling, catheter and NG tube insertions, and diagnostic and therapeutic ascitic taps. Efficiency and attention to detail were my guiding principles, and I believe they contributed to the department's overall success.One of the highlights for me was actively participating in various medical procedures, from esophagogastroduodenoscopy to endoscopic biopsies. These experiences allowed me to refine my technical skills and expand my clinical knowledge. I've always been passionate about learning, and this role gave me the chance to do just that.In addition to clinical work, I took on quality improvement initiatives within the Gastroenterology department. I conducted audits that led to valuable enhancements in our approach to antibiotic regimens, dosages for upper gastrointestinal bleeding, and the documentation of allergies in patient records. These audits played a crucial role in enhancing patient care and ensuring safer practices.On the academic front, I had the opportunity to delve into research. I wrote a case report titled "Anesthesia Mumps: Transient Parotid Swelling after Conscious Sedation for Endoscopy," which was a fascinating exploration of a clinical situation. I completed a three-month rotation as a House Officer in the OTOLARYNGOLOGY AND HEAD & NECK SURGERY Department at the Medical Teaching Institute, Lady Reading Hospital, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Peshawar, from 07/01/2023 to 06/04/2023.During this experience, I embraced the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally. I was passionate about providing exceptional patient care and management. My role involved assisting in various ENT procedures, including foreign body removal from the ear, nose, and throat, tracheotomy, and other surgical interventions. I take pride in my attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality care.I also had the privilege of conducting a clinical audit on the effectiveness of vestibular rehabilitation exercises for treating BPPV. The results were remarkable, demonstrating the significant benefits of this therapy. What's more, I wrote a Letter to the Editor on the same topic, which was published in the PubMed journal, Journal of Ayub Medical College (JAMC). This publication allowed me to share valuable insights with a wider audience.In addition to my clinical duties, I actively participated in a workshop on airway management conducted by PGMI Peshawar. I also took on the role of educator, teaching BS audiology students from KMU Peshawar during their clinical rotation. I had the opportunity to work as a House Officer in the Department of General Surgery at Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar from 07/10/2022 to 06/01/2023, totaling three months. During this period, I gained hands-on experience in various medical procedures and skills. These included history taking, physical examinations, diagnosing medical conditions, filling out lab request forms, making referrals to appropriate units, performing phlebotomy, administering IV treatments, and giving injections.I also had the chance to practice nasogastric tube placement, catheterization, and participated in procedures such as wound debridement, wound dressings, skin closures, and other medical interventions under direct supervision. Throughout my time, I maintained positive relationships with colleagues and patients.I was known for my punctuality and dedication to my duties. I took great care in preparing patients and presenting cases during grand rounds. Additionally, I actively participated in clinical seminars and symposia to further my medical knowledge.Furthermore i was declared best HouseOfficer .
