Director of Education & Skills at UK Music where I run the Music Academic Partnership (MAP) and lead on our education & skills, careers, and education policy work. Fellow of both the Higher Education Academy and Royal Society of Arts and a Doctor of Philosophy I taught and conducted my doctoral research at the Dept. of Geography and Earth Sciences in Aberystwyth University where I also undertook a short period as Welsh Medium Lecturer in Education (maternity cover). I delivered 2 undergraduate modules for the School of Education & Lifelong Learning and in the Department of Geography & Earth Sciences helped deliver the 1st year undergraduate tutorial module and also lectured on the 2nd year Geohazards module on 'Megacities and Disaster Preparedness'​. A regular with the Summer Uni until 2015 I managed a team of tutors and coordinated the assessment and marking for up to 90 students in Aber Uni's flagship residential widening access to HE course.I have volunteered my time over the years to try and contribute in some small way to important causes and projects. I am currently on the steering group for Make Music Day UK, advisory board for Music: Local, and a trainee crew member with Aberystwyth’s RNLI. My doctoral research came from many years working with young people and their communities and was driven by my interest in the relationship that people & communities have with place & space and the impact such a relationship has on well-being, community cohesion, and life-courses. I have a wide range of experience in creative, consultative, community projects as well as advising on the many issues encountered during my work in the 3rd sector. My interest in the environment, sustainability, social justice and equality has been a major driver throughout my career. I have been involved in theatrical and musical writing/composition and performance for many years including 6 years experience working with young people at Arad Goch Theatre Company. I have been involved in the delivery of events for many years with roles as varied as technical crew, venue manager, campsite manager, and crew chief. I am a proud member of the Musicians’ Union.I was on the panel of judges for the Welsh Music Prize 2016.
