I was recruited by two major universities to become affiliated with their Community-Engaged Research Programs (CERPs). In some cases this participation includes completing critical assessment of international research articles or papers where direct Community Based Participatory Research (CBPR) is involved. My role as a peer reviewer of these scholarly works (submitted manuscripts) is critical to ensuring the basic underlying empirical methodology applied is appropriate; and, that the applicable federal and professional research standards of investigation are upheld. In many cases these reviews are critical to: the advancement of scientific and scholarly knowledge; grant application approvals and funding; to include, professional advancement as based on the nature and perceived national or global significance (implications) of the research.
