I am a Research Scientist and Scientific Software Developer specialising in method development and writing software in a wide variety of scientific fields. Through this I have gained considerable experience and expertise in scientific research, software development, method development, and problem solving.I currently work on the neutron reflectivity software RAT (Reflectivity Algorithm Toolbox), which is currently in beta: https://github.com/RascalSoftware/RAT. This code is for modelling and analysing data from five of the beamlines at ISIS Neutron and Muon Source which measure neutron reflectivity from interfaces, to investigate for example proteins on cell membranes, surfactants, to the magnetic coupling in multilayers and other functional materials. I am the author of the crystal structure prediction software ChemDASH https://github.com/lrcfmd/ChemDASH which implements a novel approach of chemically directed swapping to discover new materials. ChemDASH is now used by many researchers and, to date, ChemDASH has played a role in the discovery of over twelve new compounds. This success resulted from working closely with experimental chemists and clearly communicating the outcomes of my research to colleagues with different expertise.
