About Dr. Pawan Kumar Karn

R&D Applied Aerodynamicist with expertise in Subsonic, Supersonic Wind Tunnel Testing (7+ years), Shock tube testing, Water tunnel testing and CFD modelling (8+ years).Truly passionate about Aerodynamics and Personnel development, always interested in R&D projects that seek real-life solutions and novel concepts.Experienced in R&D Wind Tunnel experimental projects, mostly in aerospace applications, from classic methods (pressure rake, unsteady pressure sensors, HWCTA, loads cells and strain gauge balance, moving ground systems, incidence system) to advanced techniques (2D and Tomo-PIV, HWCTA, Schlieren and shadowgraphy Photography). Additional expertise and research background in CFD modelling (ANSYS, CATIA, MATLAB, TECPLOT) in cost-effective methodologies.Awarded a PhD in Space Engineering and Rocketry (Aerodynamics), with focus on Slender body flow features study at High angles of attacks.Currently working as Post Doctoral Fellow (Unsteady Aerodynamics Lab), Sustainable Energy Engineering Department, IIT Kanpur.JRF & PhD & M.E (Aerodynamics), Space Engg. & Rocketry Dept., BIT Mesra, Ranchi.B.Tech (Mechanical Engineering) Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology, Sikkim.
